I bought this to remove the hard top from my jeep. The winch worked great, the pole and bracket I made for it was a failure! After a few connection changes I finally got it working properly. It had nothing to do with the winch itself but with my making the hard top mount. The winch is very fast, I would suggest using it to the maximum weight limit and hooking the hook to the shackle and using a pulley. This reduced the speed of raising the top to a manageable pace. The only problem I really have with it is the same as everyone else. Why build a winch designed to be mounted on a 30 foot ceiling? only reach a 5 foot remote control? I love that others are modifying the cable and making it longer after I've used it a few times and making sure it doesn't fail as quickly. The motor is very quiet and did not get hot even after repeated use. My only regret is not having bought it many years ago. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a lift in their garage.
