I have yet to use this as a selfie stick, but I did use it repeatedly to take family pictures during our summer vacation. The stick extends by having multiple poles that nest within each other, going from larger to smaller going from the tripod legs to the end of the stick where your electronic device is attached. This allows you to adjust the overall length/height however you want, which is nice considering other options limit you to length increments by folding out instead of telescoping like this one. My favorite part of this selfie stick is the locking collars on the telescoping poles. Not only do they allow you to pick the perfect length/height, but they flip out to unlock them so you can adjust each poles length, but you then flip the locking collar back to lock the pole into position. This is FAR better than the other style I've used in the past, which had threaded collars that you tightened and loosened to adjust length. That style of locking collar either always broke or stripped the threads, or you would tighten them down enough to hold the weight of your phone/camera and then you couldn't get them loose later without pliers. My least favorite parts were the tripod base and the attachment piece that goes on the end where you attach your phone/camera. First the tripod legs. They are sturdy and lock into place well, my only complaint is that the legs aren't very long. This is just an issue if you place it on uneven ground, or it's windy outside. It never happened to us, but the chance of the tripod falling over in a strong gust of wind does exist. I'm guessing the reason this was done was to reduce fully collapsed length so you aren't holding onto three folded up legs that are too long, so it's understandable why that was done. The second issue is the spring-loaded attachment at the end that I would put my phone in. It worked just fine, it never dropped my big heavy phone, and it didn't press any of the side buttons accidentally. My only issue with it was it was consistently difficult to spread the spring-loaded arms apart in order to get my phone in it. It's a good problem to have since I didn't want my phone falling out, but getting a larger phone like the iPhone Max in and out of that mount over and over again got frustrating, I had to step off to the side a lot to get out of other tourists way so they could take pictures why I struggled to get my phone in the mount. I would still rather have this mount that won't drop my phone, I just hope that future versions have some kind of modification that allows you to get your phone in and out more easily.
