I've been using the Wahoo Tickr for a few years and had some issues where it stopped updating heart rate for a while wanted to try Garmin , so I will compare them. Pairing with phones and bike computers is about the same, although it took my phone over 10 seconds to see the Garmin. The bike computer (Wahoo Elemnt) connected perfectly to the Garmin Dual. I can't comment on Garmin's battery life, but the Wahoo's battery lasts quite a while. The main differences are in the ease of use. The Wahoo is much easier to put on and take off as you unclip one end of the strap and it pops off. [end edit] When Wahoo takes it off, one side of the monitor naturally turns off, so you don't have to worry about the battery draining. In Garmin's case, they recommend removing the sensor from the strap so you have another little black plastic thing that's easy to lose. I ended up applying superglue to the buckles to stop it. The Garmin band has not loosened yet. During an hour-long ride this week, Garmin stopped updating heart rate on my bike computer (but didn't seem to lose connection). I was sweating so it wasn't a recognition issue. After about 15 minutes it started updating again. I've observed the same thing on the Wahoo Tickr a few times, so both seem about the same in that regard. Every time I saw this, it happened during periods of higher heart rate, leading me to believe it was an issue with the heart cycle detection in the device. Tickr is much more reliable in this regard.
