Will not work on 2016 King Ranch

2016 F150 King Ranch Flat 4 plug doesn't fit what is on my truck, too small. Cut the connector and connect it to the 7-pin round connector, the truck will not see the trailer lights. The headlights work when they're not working, but they don't work when the truck is running, so now I need to connect a wire.
