I have older models too and this one is nice because the LCD lights up which makes it easier to work with.
I also have older models and this one is nice because the LCD is backlit which makes it easy to read in the dark. They also changed the sensor cable to make it easier to use, making it a detachable plug in case it needs to be replaced.
