Suffice it to say that one lamp is enough. As soon as you connect them, you can already see how effective they are. I charged them with the glowing stars on the stickers in my daughter's room and it only took 10 seconds for them to be fully charged and bright enough to light up an entire room (a 15 x 20 foot room). Use both options and you can easily light up a room big enough for a lively party. They don't seem to produce enough light, but that's only because our eyes aren't designed to see them in normal lighting conditions. DO NOT look at them directly as they can damage your eyes. I would place them so they reflect the light, against a wall, or far enough away that they don't affect people. They're a great addition to other fun activities, whether it's a kids' or adults' night out.
