I bought these shoes to use as hiking shoes on an 8 day canoe trip in the Boundary Waters canoe area. They played absolutely fantastic. hard-wearing, very grippy on wet rocks and packs tightly in the tightest of spaces. One downside, as others have described, is that small rocks and sticks get stuck in the sole. I like them so much that I'm not deducting a star for that. After buying them, I also used them in a heavily chlorinated pool with very good traction. They drain well and dry relatively quickly. They can be worn barefoot, but I prefer low socks. I wear a 9 1/2 - 10 and bought a 9 1/2. Perfect for bare feet or with a low profile LIGHTWEIGHT toe cap. Here's the upside, they work better as slippers/shoes than any regular slippers I've tried. (with the same socks mentioned above) The holes in the soles do not make the feet sweat like in normal slippers. Combined with ultra soft rubber material, they are very quiet in the house, no slipper noise. It won't scratch on a wooden floor, won't slip on a tile. This is how I wear them at the moment. You may have found the perfect men's slippers/shoes by mistake. Thanks from Chicago.
