Some genius has decided that wire nuts (the wrong size - too small) are suitable for connecting a 220v, 40 amp heat pump. I was wondering why the device "knocked" when starting or stopping. To do some other electrical work on the heat pump service line I disassembled the former circuit breaker (relocated and converted to a junction box), stripped a new conductor, properly added an antioxidant and terminated the connection with these split bolts. Guess what? A heat pump has never been quieter. Works as described. High quality.
