Revainrating 4 out of 5

Exceeded my expectations and saved me money

I have a music playback system in my garage/shop that is reasonably excellent. I used to power it from an Onkyo A/V receiver that I got, but when I had to remap this unit to become part of my living room media functions I had to buy a replacement garage system. It needed to be able to easily feed 16 speakers with an "A" and "B" speaker setup in the main section, as well as feed audio to the 2nd section amp (hey, I'll admit that's a was a bit "exaggerated") ). Above'). At first, my search took me back to A/V receivers, which were a bit pricey for what I wanted to do. I've looked at used equipment, but I'm not really interested in buying used electronics unless they're so cheap that I don't care about their lifespan (so almost free). I even considered reverting my system to what a "normal" person might have in a garage. Then I came across this little device. It met all my needs for powering my speakers and had some great extras like Bluetooth connectivity in addition to the audio jacks, plus AVRCP and A2DP for remotely controlling my Bluetooth connected playback device using the included remote and front panel buttons. Devices. Although I had never heard of the manufacturer before, I ordered the unit from Revain, where I could return it if I didn't like it. But I was more than A few quibbles. The documentation is not very clear. For example, there is a display on a device labeled as a VFD display, but nowhere is its purpose/function/use discussed. I'm not using it for its intended purpose - karaoke - so maybe if I was in that scene I would understand what he's doing. To me it just displays small random blue and red "squares" in a moving block, then sometimes switches to the EQ type display (not sure what's causing the change). What's a little more annoying is that you can control all basic functions with the remote control, with the exception of turning the device on and off. This limits the placement of the device as it needs to be easily accessible. Hence the 4 star rating.

Pros
  • Fairly impressive
Cons
