I used these link rings on my sterling silver chain bracelets to replace some of the link rings that had opened up and twisted. I used to replace these jump rings with ones that were supposed to be sterling silver but have rusted. Although they are a little darker silver than the chains, at least I know they won't rust. After putting them on the bracelets, I smeared their opening part with some glue to make sure they wouldn't open if I hung them on something. For those of you who have split rings instead, a darning needle works really well to open them wide enough to put on chains or whatever without having to buy a special tool to open them. Although I am retired I have made my own jewelry so I have experience with jump rings and split rings.
