My New Favorite Kitchen Toy

I've been using the food processor for about a month and it's quickly becoming one of my favorite kitchen gadgets. I was about to buy until I thought about how much I hate carrying leftovers outside in the dead of winter and with fruit flies. It's pretty quiet and after 3-8 hours I have a new batch of dry great compost ready! While some suggest letting it run overnight, we'll likely stick with a few days from now on. My darling was awakened from her dead sleep by a woman's screeching and that gurgling, raspy sound from The Curse. He was convinced that someone had broken into the house and that we were about to die. He walked into the kitchen and checked the ice maker when the curse creaked behind him. Startled, he turned around and realized at that moment that he would be fighting the Grudge naked. He was relieved it was just a food cycler. He had trouble sleeping because he felt like he was in a horror movie and I couldn't sleep because I kept laughing. Of course, the Food Cycler is NOT his favorite gadget, but I still love it. :-) Update November 2021, 11 months of use: We still have a lot of fun with the FoodCycler. We ran it probably 2-3 times a week, producing about 7 coffee cans (34 ounces) of compost in 6 months, and used it in our vegetable gardens this spring. We used compost and organic fertilizer and the tomatoes continued to grow until October (Zone 7). We are very satisfied with this year's harvest. I had several volunteers including cucumbers, zucchini and a tomato plant. Next year I'll probably mix the compost deeper to try and keep volunteers to a minimum. The first filter change was this month, so it took 11 months. It's a brand new filter but the red light is still on so I need to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Overall we are very satisfied and now feel guilty about throwing away egg shells and coffee grounds when we are out cooking.
