This is a great alternative to all expensive phosphate removers. I found their "don't overdose” warning to be true: too much, even the recommended amount, will pool in the corner of the tank and interfere with the bottom feeders. I swung the spatula a few times and it dissolved. Luckily I caught him before I lost my catfish. I found it slower than chemicals to kill algae and slower than pellets. I don't know if it removes the silica like pellets, and I'll keep an eye out: some tanks, out of many, don't have algae, but do have some brown slime. please I think you see a big difference in the algae from about a week to 10 days: the phosphates have to be removed and the algae disappear later. I use this on the first and third day at half the dose than recommended. It's sooooo economical and doesn't harm fish or plants, and you don't have small bags of media. I recommend it.
