Review: I have selected two brands of product in case a system fails or the power fails, the battery dies or whatever works with one Brand. For example, the Honeywell site hung for about 2 hours (minimum) on setup. It was very uncomfortable to understand that he had fallen. Luckily, they were available via live chat on their support site. Below I will compare them to each other. ------------------------------------------------- --------------- -------------------- -------Look for the following water leak detector: $99 - Proteus - Wifi Water Detector with Buzzer and Email/Text Warnings WiFi was basic, website seems good. The only long-term problem is that this relies on a hosted web service for notifications, so this part only works when the website is up. Move to where you need to detect water 3) Alarms in seconds - very FAST (and to my cell phone and email at no extra charge) 4) Easy to set up 5) When water is detected I can unplug the cord and alarm starts immediately 6) The alarm is loud (very good). CONS: * Water detection is via just two small metal tabs, meaning it's really difficult to detect water. Honeywell has a long cord that makes it much easier to detect water. NEUTRAL: * Proteus' management website is decent, but nothing amazing. The Honeywell app is much cooler and more functional. Compared to Proteus/Honeywell: * Proteus' web interface is not as good as Honeywell's phone app. Not a big deal since I don't check all the time, but worth mentioning. * Proteus warns much faster (in seconds vs. Honeywell minutes) IMPORTANT - How I fixed water detection - IMPORTANT: I highly recommend this if you want to detect even a small leak. Proteus would not let the water run unless it rose quite high (larger than a small pool). The problem is that the detectors were not working when a water leak was detected. I really need to recognize water, even if it's not a lot, as it accumulates quickly. So I put a tissue paper towel (dried baby wipes) around the device and put on a rubber band. When water flows past, the leak detector triggers VERY quickly (@2 seconds). It is great. I found out from the reviews. ---------- ---------------------------- ------------ - ---------- ---------------------------- ----------- -- ---------- ------ Review for the following type of water leak detector: Honeywell Lyric Wi-Fi Water Leak & Freeze Detector for $60 from Honeywell https://www.amazon.com / Lyric-Wi-Fi-Water-Freeze- Detector/dp/B01HBZQYYC Purchased 1 of these PROS:* Detects low/high temperature/humidityNeutral:* Depending on the condition of the Honeywell plant* Powered by a battery that can vary from 1 to Lasts 3 years CONS: * Notification takes much longer than Proteus * Alarm works even after removing the water/connecting the cable. I had to wait for the alert to trigger/appear in the app and then disable it in the app. Then, about 2-3 minutes after you heard the loud alarm, the alarm went off.* The Wi-Fi setup is extremely demanding and may not work. Even if you spend hours fiddling with your router with Honeywell support (1 hour with their support, then their services are down so we couldn't continue troubleshooting because the service was down anyway). I had a high performance Netgear Nighthawk AC1900/R7000 router with an expander and it would NOT connect. It ended up working with the EERO mesh, although I got lucky and only bought it to replace my Netgear. It worked with my telephone modem. I can't express how frustrating the setup was.
