If you want to make the water crystal clear and free from various impurities, then this is what you need. It achieves amazing things when it comes to water quality - empirically, as test results have shown. The downside is that it is "consumable" - after a while it "runs out" and can't purify the water any further. The good news is that it can be "refreshed". Treat it with bleach. And of course you can also just buy a new batch. In any case, I won't open an aquarium again without a few big bags of Purigen. They just do too much good for water quality, both scientifically/behind the scenes and *visually* where they really do a lot to polish the water and make it crystal clear with no tints or cloudiness.
