Review on Fluval Edge Gravel Cleaner 15 by Joshua Weaver

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good design/uncomfortable to use

The brand and design of this substrate cleaner was the reason for my choice. Now that I've tried using it, I wish I had bought a gravel cleaner with an easier to use pump. I have a hard time filling the hose with water, partly because the hose is long and my 5 gallon Fluval tank is small. I had to watch a few YouTube videos to figure out how to use the gravel cleaner because the instructions weren't entirely clear to a novice fish breeder. The durability of the product seems to be very good. But overall I'm disappointed that it doesn't go well with my tank and interest in usability. I also wish the extension tube was a bit longer because it can pop out of the bucket too easily as it's barely long enough to sit on the bottom in the bucket while the tube is level with the tank. I have to fix or hold the pipe in place, which is awkward when trying to focus on the gravel work. I still love this brand and may buy another Fluval tank. But I don't think I can master this device. UPDATE: Wanted to buy a new gravel cleaner with pump. The seller explained how to use the Fluval Edge Cleaner! In a sink (because it won't fit in a toilet tank), fill the extension tube with water and close the end with your thumb. Then fill the entire gravel cleaning pipe with water (difficult for a small sink, but possible). Hold the air purifier close to the tank and carefully insert the hose without letting the water out of the tank. As the tube fills with water and sinks into the tank, lower the extension tube into the bucket. Gravity kicks in and water begins to flow into the bucket. This suction allows you to stick the end into the gravel and pull the tube back a little halfway and then release. I still find it difficult to suck water all the way to the top of the tube when I first submerge the tube in water. Tank. The instructions say to shake it up and down to make the water rise/bounce until full. It happens. But it's cumbersome. I'm glad I did, but I can't give it a full 5 stars or say I would buy it again. Better instructions and video link would be helpful.
