Review on Containers Simply Rectangular Storage Plastic by Donna Marshall

I love pyrex storage containers. Glass is superior to plastic in many ways for many reasons. Oven, microwave, fridge, freezer. Of course, do not heat the lid. Don't even put it in the dishwasher as it will loosen the fit. I have all three basic sizes in rectangular and round shape. The rectangular ones are great because they fit so well in the fridge, the straight edges of the container to the straight edges of the fridge. And they go together wonderfully. I often set them up in twos or threes. I often use the rounds as dinner plates, but I also use them to store in the fridge or freezer. Because of them I got a lot of unexpected compliments about my freak. People admire how organized my fridge looks. I like the ease of use and convenience. They are built to last, although they can break. You are not invincible. I accidentally broke one by pouring cold liquid into it when it was hot. And of course it can break if you drop it at the wrong angle. But they are strong and can withstand rough treatment. They leak when tipped, but are there really airtight containers? And if so how much do they cost and how difficult is it to open and close them? Just be careful when handling when there is a lot of liquid in the container. When I travel with them, which I've had for many years, taking lunch or dinner with me on the road, I wrap them in 2-gallon ziplock bags. I put the container in the first package. I then turn it over and put the wrapped container in another bag so that the open end of the bag is on opposite sides. So if it leaks into the first bag, the second bag will catch the leak. I don't lock a bag. Sometimes I even cover the container with a tissue paper before putting it in bags. But I've also learned to cook and pack "dry" foods in Pyrex and to carry liquids in tight-fitting jars that I keep from the foods I buy. Like pint cans of Adams peanut butter. They are great for storing liquids. But I digress. They cost more money than plastic bottles and are heavier, but if you can afford them, they're your best bet.
