Inconsistent production and obvious design issues

After a week of trying to find what I needed (sizes, design, etc.) I selected a few to make a massive shelving unit for my new office to accomplish. My desk is 30 inches high and (including carpeting) they suit the needs very well. This (first) time I got two and had completely different experiences building them. The first turned out to be the best example, both visually and structurally (to the point). Everything turned out to be symmetrical and generally easy to assemble. I managed to accidentally overtighten the screw and quickly realized how flimsy the design was. Once assembled it's certainly sturdy and shouldn't wobble on a flat surface, but it was very easy to accidentally tighten it to the point where it cut through the metal. I didn't measure (I don't have tools). but I can bet it's about 5-10mm thick. Now I managed to screw the screw further in until it was secured on the inside, but there is a hole the size of a screw head at one end where it broke through. It didn't even creak when it breaks, so I had no idea as I don't usually have enough arm strength to break these things normally. The second was a different story. The assembly was very difficult because, unlike the first, I had to slightly unscrew all the screws so that the boards could be used to level the whole. Then I could tighten things up. At first I tried just making a frame like on the first device but it was awfully wobbly. On one occasion I thought I would have to solve everything I was doing and managed to knock the shit out of my finger when the first board slipped because the amount I needed to solve wasn't enough to move the board like the support first block. .Looked great after assembly and installation! I have one more to buy as well as several other items from this collection. I'm just waiting for the budget. -------------------------------------------------- ------- ---Assembly tips (in this order): --------------------------------- --- -------------- 1) Do this on a flat surface and move the assembly around. Don't twist it, or you risk it not being straight; 2) Hand tighten the screws until they are flush and apply a little more when assembling the frame so nothing turns freely, but not so much that it's stiff; 3) Gently (watch out for wobbly boards!) the top and bottom boards hand tight, starting with the middle screws, but leaving them loose enough that you can level them later; 4) Do the same with the center board. Note: This board does not need to be adjusted, so be the last of the three to tighten; 5) On a flat surface, use your fingers to ensure the joists are flush with the ends as you assemble the frame. Hand tighten only the frame (not the boards yet) fully, then slowly tighten with the tool until you feel you need both hands (too easy to overtighten!); 6) Fully tighten the bottom plate, then the top by following the steps below. Apply pressure on both sides and fully tighten the middle screws. I grabbed the opposite side of the frame and pulled towards me, pushing with my other hand. Now tighten the corners. This way you don't get more boards on one side or corner; 7) Repeat the above for the top panel; 8) Repeat for the middle board but be careful which side 2 side the board wants. move because there is no frame at the ends to align; 9) Check all your screws;
