Review on Protect Your Moto X4 With Poetic Guardian Full-Body Hybrid Bumper Case by Samantha Lopez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Has flaws that need to be considered, BUT STILL the best overall case for the Moto X4

After looking at all options for Moto X4 cases that I could see, I have to say that this Poetic Guardian is probably the best available choice if you are looking for a case with a built-in screen protector, and that has some "rugged"-style protection and grip while still allowing as much of the phone's body to be seen as possible inside the case!It seems to do a good job all-around of protecting my phone from everyday bumps and hits (although I haven't given it any serious drops). It also adds a good amount of grip and security for me when I pick up and hold the phone. The power and volume buttons feel solid and work well too.I chose the "black" case, but in person, it turns out that only the rear frame is black, while the front frame around the screen is actually a metallic grey. I like the grey, though, so it was a good surprise. Also, to me, the case's overall design is the nicest-looking of any phone case I've had so far. The front of the case gives an armored-but-elegant-looking frame around the phone's screen --- and it was also smartly designed to keep the "moto" logo visible, unlike the rugged cases by some other brands that strangely cover up the phone's logos. The transparent back cover allows the really interesting effects of the Moto X4's "sterling blue" version to show through (because of all the different colors and swirls on the back when it reflects light in different places and angles), and the Poetic logo is nicely placed near the bottom of the back in a classy and non-intrusive way that doesn't distract from the Motorola's own back logo.Unfortunately, though, this case DOES have some significant and bothersome flaws, and people should know and consider them before buying this case. Here are the flaws I've experienced so far:(1) The screen protector doesn't lie completely flat against the phone's touchscreen, especially on the right side. So, I have to push a little bit harder on these areas when I'm using the phone. Over time, I've gotten used to pushing hard enough on the problem areas without having to think, but for other users, this might be more of a dealbreaker.(2) The cover for the USB charging port is poorly designed and has a hard time closing back up, even after the first time I used it. It stays ajar and seems to need a few hours of recovery before it can stay closed again, and requires pushing it back in a few times here and there in the meantime. Luckily, the Moto X4 doesn't require daily charging unless you use the phone heavily.(3) The screen protector and back cover pick up dust, fingerprints, oil, and smudges very easily, which can make it look gross and dirty rather quickly. So having this case perhaps requires more frequent cleaning with a microfiber cloth to keep it looking presentable, compared to other cases that don't have a clear back cover.(4) After about a month of use, dust can be seen beginning to accumulate between the case's back cover and the phone's backside, and only gets more dusty with time (probably because of the small openings in various parts of the case). If you are one who wants to keep the clear back looking dust-free, you'll have to open it up periodically --- which can be a chore, because this case is more of a hassle to open than any other case I've had. =/Despite all these flaws, I still give this Guardian case 4 out of 5 stars because its positives (good protection, good grip, and good looks) outweigh the negatives for me at $13. I also give it 4 stars because I feel that Poetic deserves credit for being one of the few brands that has at least TRIED to provide nice options for those who have a Moto X4 and want a rugged-type case with built-in screen protector for it, while more famous brands like OtterBox or SUPCASE didn't even bother to make any cases for the Moto X4 as far as I know. and even if they did, theirs would be much more expensive than Poetic's!
