Love toothpaste - why is it so hard to squeeze out

I love this toothpaste and my dentist is amazed at the absence of tartar on my teeth. I like the strong mint flavor. But, my god, it takes strength to push it out of the tube. I hold a 3lb weight on it as soon as it opens and it slowly pushes out. It's also harder than many toothpastes, and if you're not careful it can fall into the sink unused.
