Review on ⚡ Reliable Power Protection: APC 6-Outlet Surge Protector 840 Joules, SurgeArrest (P6B) by Larry Allen

Quality Control Hit and Miss

I bought two models of this model after reading an article about how terrible (and scary) the quality of many surge protectors is. APC was the ONLY brand that looked good in this study. Here are my impressions: http://www.tomshardware.com/picturestory/681-cheap-power-surge-protector.html The first thing you find when you open the (retail) box is a handwritten receipt for the quality check! Apparently, APC checks the operation of each individual device. It is extraordinary! The 6-foot cord is round and flexible, and feels very strong. The cord is similar to that of an expensive outdoor power strip (20 amp+). While this model does have child resistant lids, one of the two units I received didn't seem to close those lids securely at all. This is disappointing and if you need this feature I would suggest looking for another model. The black semi-gloss plastic gives the band a slightly more expensive look that should blend into your entertainment system, but better than some extenders. When the cord is plugged in the light will be on all the time, but it is very dim and shouldn't emit enough light to disturb anyone. Finally, I would like to mention that while I bought two of these in one order, they were sent to me separately each in their own large box (same day) - such a waste.
