I love this item and like to take it with me when I travel as an alternative to a curling iron or flat iron. My hair type is fine, medium, not frizzy or straight, so this worked great, straightened my "head hair" (between washes) without it looking like I'm ironing it straight! It heats up quickly and it took me a bit more effort to get the look I was happy with, but that may be because I'm not used to working with a tool like this. I used the highest temperature to see how hot it would be. receive. I was fine with that and didn't feel I needed the glove that came with it, and that glove was more of a mitten than a heat shield. It was nice to have when needed though, and it added a layer of hot iron protection to the carrying case so it was fine if I had to toss it in a suitcase or bag after use. My hair was dry when I used it so I'm not sure I can comment on the "drying power". If I could give it another half star
