Arguably the finest lamp available and their customer service is second to none. They are worth the money compared to other cheaper inferior bulbs I have had. I've used over a dozen of these Mega-Rays and have never experienced any of the issues that the 1-2 star reviewers mention. These lamps are just like any other mercury or metal halide lamp (or even regular household incandescent lamps); Threads are very fragile and require careful handling. If you need to perform any type of environmental maintenance, if you need to move the bulb or it could otherwise be knocked, be sure to turn it off and unplug it after allowing it to cool for about 15 minutes before proceeding. If you shake or hit the lamp when it's on (which obviously isn't good for the filament and should be avoided), it may turn itself off internally, but will turn back on within about 15 minutes. I had this twice when I hit the light/dome and it went out. I just turned the switch off and waited about 15 minutes before turning it back on. This is because the lightbulb needs a cool down period before it turns on again. Likewise, this can happen if you turn off the light and don't let it cool down before trying to turn it back on. You have to wait at least 15 minutes to let it cool down and then turn it on. These really are great lamps and with proper use and care they will last 12 months before you need to replace them (UV radiation does wear off over time). ).
