Updated 1/10/22: (downgraded to 1 star) If you use this with a Mac and a wired gigabit ethernet connection, you won't get gigabit speeds. I see more than 250 Mbit/s. Interestingly, when I compare this docking station to the Belkin USB-C to Gigabit Adapter, the USB-C adapter works fine. See throughput tests in the images. I've been back and forth with tech support, but I'm not optimistic. Update 12/3/21: (downgraded to 3 stars) I'm currently using this with an M1Max 14" MBP. Long story short it still works. Both 4K monitors work great and the power supply is fine. I'm moving it on I don't think it will allow fast charging from a USB-C port like you get from a MagSafe 3 port, but that's an Apple limitation. Also note that this is Thunderbolt 3 and the new M1 MacBook Pros are Thunderbolt 4. So we don't get the full speed of Thunderbolt 4 From a practical point of view, I don't think it matters much --> After more than a year of use, I noticed a strange problem on both my old as well as on my new Mac USB peripherals - Devices connected to the document do not reconnect after I reconnect the Thunderbolt cable to the laptop This happens we When I unplug the laptop and plug it back in third party drivers, so it's a Mac driver issue anyway. doc itself. To solve this problem, I need to disconnect and reconnect the USB audio interface from the dock. I downgraded my rating to 3 stars because this limitation makes the dock difficult to use. But I don't know if it's a Mac issue or a Dock issue. Original: I plugged it in and it worked straight away and flawlessly, which honestly surprised me given the reviews here. My setup: I have two 27" LG 4k monitors with USB-C interfaces (as well as HDMI and DisplayPort interfaces). I ran them directly on my 2018 13" MBP with USB-C. LG monitors are great, but the MacBook routinely forgets which monitor is which which means it swaps which monitor is left and which is right. It's very annoying and I hate it. Despite the terrible reviews of this center I decided to give it a try. My MBP is 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports and this hub says it supports 4k at 60Hz for dual displays when using Thunderbolt 3. Well like I said I plugged everything in and it just worked, one monitor uses Thunderbolt USB-C on the back of the hub. The other monitor uses a DisplayPort connector. I have 3 USB-A peripherals plugged into the back of the hub and they all require full power to work. My webcam goes through d en USB-C USB-A hub of the monitor on the back of the monitor and that works great too! The Gig-E Ethernet connector passes my network speed test. I've tried the front USB 3.1 ports and SD card reader and they work. I haven't tried the microphone jack yet. As long as it just works, and better yet, the Mac doesn't forget which monitor is which. The only complaint I have is that the hub gets very hot, so I'm concerned about long-term reliability. 4 stars for now until I see how it holds up. For those of you who are in trouble, I'm not surprised. My experience with multi-monitor hubs is that they place very high demands on system and monitor combinations. I don't know exactly why, but I've turned down quite a few over the years. Basically, you just have to try them and return them if they don't work. I will update the review after working with him and Big Sur for a few months.
