The material is very sensitive to scratches. I agree, non-stick coating is easy to scratch, but this one got the job done too soon. It gets very hot for the first 3 uses. I was very impressed. However, after the third use, the heating is not uniform. The sides don't get as hot as the middle. The reason I bought this was to make dosas (Indian pancakes). I have a gas flame and due to the nature of the heat source, it's difficult to get even distribution. I thought this would solve my problem. I think I expected too much /
