These snakes have done their job. I have used a drain cleaner, plunger and plastic snake to clean the bathroom sink in the past with no success. The plug does not come out and the space around it is very tight. Although I don't use the sink to wash my hair, some hair ends up in the drain when I brush and comb it. I have curly hair 4c. I also throw leftover hair dye down the drain. I used a snake and twisted it as some had suggested. I pulled it out and attached a large, wet clump of hair soaked in hair dye to it. I did this three times and the water flowed and there was no more standing water or slow draining. It left a mess, but I was happy with the result.
