Review on Black Finish Yamaha NS-6490 Pair of 3-Way Bookshelf Speakers by Seo Jun ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very high quality product, it's not the first time I bought it.

A not entirely clear, but very tangible phenomenon - the amplifier also warms up, but not once and for all, but every time after turning on for at least 1 hour (. Without warming up the amplifier, the sound has a hint of a Chinese tape recorder from the 90s, HF hiss only to indicate their presence, I consulted on this issue with experienced music lovers and watched the forums - everyone confirms the presence of this pattern, this is not esotericism!) For the sake of my own interest, I subjected them to a slight modernization - the internal wiring is connected to the speakers through knife tips (like a clip), removed them and soldered them directly. On the bass speaker, I replaced the native wires (inside all the wires with one section of about 0.75 mm2) with outbred flexible 2.5 mm2. I did it in order to create a more reliable electrical connection, increase the damping factor, and possibly a negligible shift in the tonal balance towards low frequencies. I listen in pure direct mode (timbres are disabled), the tonal balance suits. The speakers are also suitable for listening at a quiet volume, not oak. This is probably the only three-way acoustics on the market in a closed box with such a reasonable price, I took it in February for 6 Very interesting and unusual example. I wish manufacturers would offer a larger selection of closed boxes. Whoever likes an overabundance of supposedly bass-reflex *bass* I recommend to enjoy them in a nightclub and similar establishments. For the house I want ZYa.

Pros
  • Purposefully acquired a closed box for background music in good quality, for infrequent listening at the level of 11-12 hours. Together with them, I bought an a-s 300 amplifier, they play well - a convenient range for adjusting the volume at low values, when I set it to 12 o'clock (14 sq. with much more noticeable dynamics and scale. Before them, there were weak and powerful music centers - all two-way and bass reflex. Some write that these speakers are bright in the mids, I would say that they are detailed and expressive due to the presence of a midrange speaker, which is simply unusual for many, especially after inexpensive two-way midi systems. As for the basses: they are quite enough for a system of this power, but for some time I caught myself thinking that there was not enough of such a familiar and familiar buzz (no more) of a phase inverter. Instead of buzz, we get the opportunity to hear the structure and color of the bass, get rid of overtones, the speakers really *easily* play out the sound picture. An important note: initially the speakers stood straight at a distance of 1 meter, the basses were just short, then for the sake of experiment I turned each speaker to each other by about 12-15 degrees and something happened that I could hardly believe. Some kind of resonance appeared in the room at low frequencies, which subjectively increased the bass by an honest 1.5 times, the so-called *meat* appeared. Regarding warming up: I noticed changes in about a day and a week later - woofers become more lingering and legible. It is best to warm them up forcibly - by turning them on in antiphase and placing them close opposite each other - it warmed for two hours, so that you could see how the diffusers oscillate, but without rattling sounds . The bass will wake up)
Cons
  • Everything suits me.
