I had a longstanding annoying problem where my NVIDIA graphics card's output defaulted to stereo - sometimes - after going through an OREI HDMI splitter where one of the targets was a Yamaha 5.1 amp home theater, but the other was a simple desktop monitor with only stereo output. This little box did a great job of telling NVIDIA to relax and just stream 5.1 consistently - and now I'm getting beautiful 5.1 through my Yamaha. The only thing I would add is that I had to scroll through all the settings before I found the one that actually resulted in everything being recognized correctly. The "E" setting sounded exactly how I wanted it, but I ended up with no sound. The "I" (1080p 3D HD) setting was the winner and made my Yamaha happy.
