The wires are actually only about 5 inches long and the wire appears to be about 20 gauge I had to solder #18 pigtails to some of my lights. to provide enough length to attach to my main wires and the wire in the wires is very small and doesn't always work with the crimp connectors I use. My crimp connectors are good up to #18 but some bulbs had intermittent connections. I ended up soldering 6" #18 pigtails to them to ensure a good connection. If you buy them I recommend that you solder 6" #18 extensions to each wire for ease of installation.
