Review on Samsung P2770HD 27 Inch Full HD Monitor with Built-In Speakers by Mike Martinez

I bought this monitor after mine started going bad and the DVI input on it completely failed. The old monitor was a Dell Perfect Sharp 24" IPS LCD. I chose this Samsung after hearing from people that the TN LCD has a higher refresh rate and is better for gaming and the difference in viewing off axis was negligible going from IPS to TN I feel like they are wrong IPS is MUCH superior to TN and I would like to save money a little longer and go with an IPS display but oh well As for this monitor, while the screen is pretty good and quite big, I think it makes the TV better than the monitor.The lack of any height adjustment, no tilt and swivel makes it quite difficult for a human to have a desk. This is my biggest complaint as I could tilt, swivel, swivel, rotate to portrait and adjust the height to my heart's content while my old Dell was in one position and only in one position. Given that the old Dell cost me $1200 8 years ago and this one is just under $350, I should expect a slight drop in performance. Also, I think that for a screen this size, 1920x1080h isn't high enough to put a PC that close. I would have preferred a slightly higher resolution, but that could just be me. I know I'm being a bit rough with this monitor, but the screen is actually pretty good. When the background color on some sites is a bit different than normal black or white, I can see off-axis shading. But that's actually not that bad and has more to do with how my desk is set up and the monitor is on a small shelf on my desk. Half-Life 2 looks amazing on this screen, and the Rift beta looks amazing too. I'm using a VGA connector as it doesn't come with a DVI cable (although I'll be replacing it) and the text looks really good to me. So finally. Pros: price, screen size, screen looks pretty good, comes with a remote control. Cons: TN just isn't right for an IPS screen, no or ergonomic controls, 1080p can be a bit low for a PC and screen of this size. I think it's better suited as a TV with a PC connection and then as a PC monitor with TV inputs.
