Review on 🔧 Simmons 850SB Repair Kit - 8 Pieces for 4800 Model & 800Sb Series Yard Hydrant by Tim Hull

Hi Revainians, I've read some reviews saying it doesn't work or fit so I ran into the same issue and wanted to share the results. My hydrants just say Simmons, I think it says HB-2 on it. But in any case, this kit works. I couldn't get the plunger in if you look at my photo if you pull out the old rod and the plunger looks like my drawing you need to dig out the hydrant and pull out the old broken plunger stuck in the hydrant. I pulled the stem out and turned the valve back, hoping the water would knock it out but wouldn't go. So I thought maybe I could use a hook tool and pry it out from underneath instead of unscrewing the rusty leg. Also note that with the stem pulled out, the hydrant body contained water and an old broken plunger was clogging the drain hole in the bottom of the hydrant. So the hook tool worked and you can see the old piston. I have 5 old fire hydrants that I am replacing with new ones because I didn't know about the conversion kit as I only needed the plunger for only $11. Otherwise everything is fine and the hydrant is already 20 years old.
