Installing the XH-W3001 thermostat module and looking inside. Circuit of a common and very simple Chinese thermostat module. The module is rated for 12V but appears to be available in other voltage options as well. With this device, the output is switched to 12V and has a corresponding negative lead for direct load control. The module can control heating or cooling with start and end temperature. To set the temperature, press and hold one of the buttons. until the display starts flashing. The left button is for ON temperature and the right button is for OFF temperature. While the display is flashing, this temperature can be increased and decreased in small increments of 0.1 degrees or faster by continuously pressing the Up/Down Button. Once the temperature is set, the display will stop flashing after a short delay and will show the currently measured temperature again. The hysteresis (temperature difference between on and off) is easily adjusted by choosing this distance between the on and off settings. Thus, a switch-on temperature of 20ยฐC and a switch-off temperature of 23ยฐC has a hysteresis of 3ยฐC. The relay appears to be rated for 10A but is more reliable when operated at a much lower current. The switching output can directly control an external relay or a small load. Pressing and holding both buttons will result in a brief display test and return to factory temperature settings.
