I like the dehumidifier better, I like its size, weight and ability to remove water. This is the perfect size for our home of just under 2,000 square feet. I keep it in the bedroom so it can absorb the moisture in the bathroom better and the result is a much fresher smell in the room. On a lower setting (non-turbo) it has no problem maintaining humidity in the 40-45% range and only runs when awake. For those who don't know, less than 50% of dust mites die, so keeping the house dry is very helpful. Lots of people talk about noise but note that this is a compressor dryer and the compressors are not quiet. It's loud enough, I don't want it to work in the room at night because I don't like white noise when I sleep, but it doesn't bother me during the day. Yes, I wish it was quieter, but I've had no luck with non-compressor dehumidifiers. As for the cons, I agree with one user that finding a setting that makes it work based on %humidity and not always was impractical. . I think the instruction manual could be adapted from another model but I finally figured it out. A much bigger downside for me is how cumbersome it is to return the bucket back to the unit after emptying. I just feel like I have to wiggle it a bit before it wants to slide in compared to others I've used that just snap into place. Considering I empty it multiple times a day, that's the only reason I'm deducting a star. If you have the option to set it up as an automatic drain, I highly recommend that.
