The puppy scratched the sofa. I thought it was damaged and considered buying a new one. I saw this product, read the reviews and thought "What's the worst that can happen"? I watched an application video. Since I was a little impatient and limited in time, I cut a few corners. I wiped the whole sofa with alcohol. I started rubbing the product with a sponge and found that rubbing worked better and produced a more even look. My sofa was dark brown with a slight red tinge. Over time, the skin became lighter and redder. (This can be seen in the photo). After the first application, the couch darkened to a dark brown color. I waited about 4 hours and the skin felt dry. Back then the sofa was matt. I actually liked the effect, but figured I'd have to oil it to make sure the paint adhered. Of course I didn't wait 24 hours to dry before applying the oil, but I was still very happy with the end result. The sofa looks like new again. Definitely recommend this product. This saved me (at least for now) from having to buy another sofa
