I didn't even know they were brand new when I ordered them. I just needed some new workout headphones and Bose is my favorite audio brand because every other brand I try almost always has something I can't stand. an old pair of wired Bose headphones that were in such bad condition that the cords were sticking out just below the earbuds - not good if you're sweating during a workout while wearing them! So I went shopping. I first found Bose's earlier true wireless earbuds that had an issue with the left earbud clipping out. A quick tour of the Bose website led me to these. Unpacking was nice. Premium packaging for a premium product. At the time of unpacking, the headphones were about 60% charged - that's enough for testing. The biggest problem with setting it up: you need an application that needs location permissions and an account to use it. I usually prefer not to give out personal information just to use an expensive product. Bose if you are reading this this is a big issue for me and I would really appreciate it if I didn't need this account to use the product I paid $180 for. Calls: If you want to know what calls sound like, don't look at me. I don't use headphones for phone calls and this feature doesn't bother me. I bought them specifically to play music. Sound: Typical Bose quality. Slightly less impressive than my old wired Bose headphones, but that's to be expected. Bluetooth isn't the best standard for true audio quality. But they have enough bass (not punchy, so if you like heavy bass you probably won't like them) not to overwhelm everything else. All in all a very balanced sound. Connectivity: Like my old Bose BT speaker, they connect quickly and after hours of uninterrupted music playback, there's not a single twitch or dropout. Simply perfect performance. Controls: I like the auto pause when I pull the right earbud out of my ear. That's great. I almost wish it would work with both as I tend to pull the left one more often than the right one. I also like the custom double tap action. I just installed it to check the battery level. This is a nice additional feature. Fit: Some people like the fit of Bose headphones, some don't. I'm in the lovers' camp. I've fallen in love with them since my old wired headphones were the only headphones I've ever used. They sit in just the right spot to produce amazing sound without putting too much pressure on your ear canal, while also making it almost impossible to actually even feel. If you can't keep them in your ears, you're wearing the wrong size headphones. 3 silicone pieces (or you may need one more or one less than what they do, which is definitely possible). For reference I use the smallest of the three. When inserting, I insert relatively straight and then twist to lock, tucking the silicone portion under the ear last. Since I've been wearing Bose style for a long time, it comes naturally to me. If you're new to it, it may take some time to get used to. If you only know the ones stuck in your ear canal, you'll feel like they're about to fall out. You will not! The only thing I would wish for would be the charging case that supports wireless charging. But I can't complain about the USB CI, I've only used them for a few hours but they've been through 2 workouts plus some real work (I'm a jewelry maker and actually wore them on my workbench while I was running my flex shaft , soldering and other chores. It's a pleasure not having to worry about cables!). I will update this review if anything changes but based on my first 3-4 hours of use they are 5 stars. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
