Laid on a kayak in July. In 3 months I tried 3 times to open the lock. The first time was excruciatingly difficult as the lock bites into the plastic and EXTREMELY difficult to turn the key. Finally managed to open after 10 minutes of fighting. The second time was a little easier. The third time was today. It wouldn't move. The key broke off in the lock. I had to cut the wire so I went home and got some wire cutters hoping that would do the trick. I have wire cutters. It barely touched the string and splintered like scissors through a kite string. It struck me how easy it was to break through this complete and utter garbage. Cold oil is more stable. I can't understand how this product got 4.4 stars with so many upvotes. Either the company provided a free product as a bribe, or these are fake reviews, or there are a lot of crazy people out there. I'd rather leave my kayak unlocked than put that crap on it. You cannot open it, and a thief can cut the cord with children's scissors. This is probably the worst product I have ever bought anywhere. No joke.
