Quality control issues

Product looks good. It looks like iron and has weight. But what I received is broken - the latch on the base is completely loose. If I don't open it very carefully, the latch just pops open when I open the cabinet. I bought this to secure my cat food closet. But 12 hours after installation, the cats accidentally found they could accidentally knock on the latch, and voila, it falls straight to the ground. From another review it appeared that my problem would be that the latch would be too difficult to open - fear not.
