64GB SSK Flash Drive, Ultra-Speed USB 3.0 Memory Stick Jump Drive with Keychain Design - Up to 150MB/s Transfer Speed for PC/Laptop/Computer Flash Drive Used in Supplied in plain packaging a cardboard backed retail hanging box with a flash drive in a plastic blister. I was initially a bit disappointed that the package did not have a cutting line showing where to cut it with scissors as I have cut the wrong places and ruined items on several packages in the past. However, I've found that this one opens easily with a flap on a plastic bubble held in place by a piece of tape, allowing you to slide the flash drive right out of the box and right into your hand. Good for me as a consumer but very little protection against theft for a shop owner. The slim metal body is long enough for me to have a good grip when I'm using it, and it has a built-in loop so you can hang it on a keychain if you want. Personally I don't recommend this as I feel jumping around on a flash drive with all the places my keys end up is not good for device storage. Looking at the connector on the flash drive, the entire plastic connector on the front isn't all blue like I'm used to, although it does have a blue plastic stripe that usually stands for USB 3. In this case, it is mostly black with a blue trim. I found it a little unusual, but maybe it's just a feature of their manufacturing process. By connecting the USB flash drive to the laptop, it enters the port smoothly and securely. Windows recognized it immediately and showed 58.6 GB of free space, which is quite normal since a flash drive's file system takes up a certain amount of space. This drive is formatted with the Fat 32 file system which I usually format to NTFS which is compatible with many of my devices. I noticed something unusual while formatting the hard drive. Although the properties show that the drive is pre-formatted in FAT32, opening the Windows formatter shows that the default file system is exFAT. I thought it would be a little surprise. I'll reformat it anyway, so if there's anything on that drive that shouldn't be, the format will erase it. I believe that you should always format any drive you receive before first use as you never know what happened to the drive between the time it was manufactured and the time you get your hands on it. When using the hard drive I found that it looked like a USB 3 drive as copying files to it was pretty fast. I don't have fancy software to measure actual transfer speeds, but I was happy with the speed at which files were copied. The essence of this flash drive? Good looks do the job they are supposed to do and seem to do it well.
