We cook and season with Diamond Kosher Salt (not table salt!) and this shaker is perfect for our needs. It's easy to hold, looks great, and releases just the right amount of kosher salt when shaken. not too little and not too much. We use a pepper grinder, so we haven't tried the pepper grinder yet. If you're using regular table salt and very fine-grain black pepper, these shakers may not be the best choice as the holes are slightly larger than usual.
