My kids have food allergies so every Halloween I melt down some allergy friendly chocolate chips and make candies for them in candy molds. I wrap my homemade chocolates in aluminum foil and give them to my kids in exchange for their sweets that they can't eat. They came out well and looked like tiny Easter Island chocolate figures. I used a chopstick to poke the melted chocolate deep into my nose and other ridges to make sure it penetrated everywhere without bubbles. I've used plastic candy molds for the past few years, but I was concerned that so much plastic is toxic, so I switched to silicone this year because it might be safer. The big difference I notice between these molds and my old plastic candy molds is that they are much larger. I made nine large Easter Island figures (about 2 1/2 inches tall and 3/4 inches wide) and seven large emoji (including: Fred and friends preparing an ice cream bowl) using the same amount of chocolate as usual. use to make a million little candies. My kids seemed happy that they had fewer large chocolates instead of more small ones. These sheets are a little flexible, so they were more difficult to put in the fridge than the hard plastic sheets I've used before - I placed them on a baking sheet. to move them and it worked really well. They were easier to demould than candies in plastic trays because the silicone is very flexible.
