I used to install a single valve floodstop system for my dishwasher. We've been using it for over a year now with no problems. When I was remodeling my laundry room I decided to install this dual valve system for my washing machine. This system has two motorized valves (one for cold water and one for hot water). A sensor is located on the floor next to the washing machine (if you need to cover a large area, you can buy additional sensors and connect them in series). A drop of water is enough to switch on the system and close the valves. Installation is easy. The unit operates on AC power (AC adapter included) but also uses four (4) AA batteries (not included) to keep the system running in the event of a power outage. A red light and beep will indicate the system is armed. Floodstop also sells an extra phone dialer for this system (it will call you to let you know it's disconnected). To prevent the valves from sticking due to mineral build-up, the system automatically opens and closes the valves once a month (open and close the valves independently for inspection). So far I haven't had any problems. Good to know: If a hose bursts somewhere or water leaks out, nothing will be flooded.
