Review on Chevy V6/V8 Oil Pump Primer with 3/8 in Drill Chuck - Steel, Black Oxide - Each by Henry Hunter

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works great very glad I bought it

Couldn't be simpler. Pull out the distributor (if already installed), insert the primer into the hole and align it with the oil pump shaft, then place the cordless drill on the primer and press out. On a Chevy 350 with a high volume oil pump, it took about 2 seconds to get 60psi on the oil pressure gauge and another 10 to 15 seconds to see the oil pump pumping the top of the pushrods to the rocker arms. This primer helped ensure the oil pump and associated galleys were working properly - before (!) I actually ran the engine for a break-in period. Worked great, I'm very glad I bought it and for such a small investment I got rid of my $20,000 engine worries since it first launched. The tool itself is fairly simple, but most importantly it includes an upper bushing that allows the oil to circulate through the engine as if the distributor were in place, rather than just turning the oil pump and pumping the oil back into the sump to run. Bypassing the storage galley. , elevators and pushers. Don't buy without this top sleeve.

Pros
  • Heavy duty
Cons
  • Expensive
