Great tool for peace of mind after a fresh restoration

Just used this on a 4.3 GM V6 after a restoration with new hydraulic valve lifters. I had never used one of these before so I expected it to pump oil to the rockers before it did. It took us about 8-10 minutes to fill all the seesaws with oil. First one or two, then gradually more. Eventually, as expected, oil all began to ooze from the top of the pushrods. Manually rotating the motor about 90 degrees every few minutes also helps. Works best with a large 1/2" corded drill, requires quite a bit…

Worked great for me

Because this tool is designed for a large number of blocks, you may need to modify it slightly to make it work for your application. To make it work for me I had to remove the collar on the bottom of the stem. Thus, only a flat head stuck out. Some put washers under the top retaining ring. I didn't, I just let it float freely and lowered the top bushing into the distributor hole so the stem was centered. It worked great and my engine built up great pressure in just a few seconds. I ran it for a

Needs some adjustments but still works great!

I bought this product after reading the comments and also made a mistake. But I knew it was going to happen and I'm still happy. I did this. I thought the bottom aluminum bushing was actually backwards. So I turned it over, but first I had to bevel the other side so it didn't hit the camshaft. I also machined a new pilot diameter on the aluminum top bushing and turned it over because it fit horribly into the manifold bore. I then added a couple of washers under the snap ring to get rid of the…

Overall good tool in Engine Parts

Overall good tool but the oil plug is 5/8 inch lower than my manifold. The overall length is correct, the top fits perfectly into the manifold fitting on the inlet. My temporary solution was to fold the washers under the plug lift and fit to the manifold dimensions i just let the top snap ring hold the whole shaft no problem it worked worked fine my car is a 1999 suburban with the 7.4 vortec my permanent solution was around asking a friend to cut two slits in the shaft 5/8 inch from the…

Works great very glad I bought it

Couldn't be simpler. Pull out the distributor (if already installed), insert the primer into the hole and align it with the oil pump shaft, then place the cordless drill on the primer and press out. On a Chevy 350 with a high volume oil pump, it took about 2 seconds to get 60psi on the oil pressure gauge and another 10 to 15 seconds to see the oil pump pumping the top of the pushrods to the rocker arms. This primer helped ensure the oil pump and associated galleys were working properly - before

GREAT tool. Had to modify it a bit for the 84 " SBC

It is very well made and works great. The overall length was perfect, the top plug/gasket on top fitted perfectly and it's a great tool that worked perfectly and generated 45psi when I primed my SBC engine 8" lower on the primer shaft than the actual distributor shaft. So I had to modify it to raise the piston to line up with the distributor shaft (on an 84 foot engine) .Washers that would fit the shaft and still give the required clearance in the sidewall. So I removed the snap rings from the…

So, disclaimer ahead, my motor is out of stock. I saw a review about adding shims to the bottom of the main hub to raise it and build up oil pressure. Not required on my standard size Big Block Chevrolet (BBC). I've also looked at reviews that said to grind/bevel the end of the tool to better match the oil pump. Again, this is not necessary for my application. I forgot to bevel the end of the tool until it was about 3/4 of the way into the motor to connect to the pump. After 3 seconds I…
