I bought 2 of these to replace a broken key fob. First you need to know what frequency (RFID) your truck is using. This is important as this keychain is ONLY for Gen 4 RAMs. You also need to know your truck's 4-digit PIN to bypass the ECM security system. Any reputable locksmith can easily program the keyfobs. You don't need to cut off the emergency key first. (highly recommended afterwards) If you cut it off before programming and the key fob is defective for any reason, you cannot return it. However, these keychains are tested before being released for sale. I was charged the price of the fobs and $40 per fob for programming and an additional $1.50 for cutting off the emergency key. So about $150 for 2 keychains. The dealer wanted over $200 for a keychain. This involved no programming. The only thing you really want from the dealer is a truck safety badge. Then take it to a locksmith, you'll save a decent amount of money by not going to the dealer.
