I used this brush in a dishwasher vent after removing the silver cap on the top of the counter next to the faucet and the plastic insert with two small clips. Insight. TWO holes. ONE goes to the dishwasher, a clear plastic tube. The other goes to the black hose in the garbage chute. I had this blockage, the brush didn't do much and it took a long time to clear some. Instead, my son placed his hands over the vent (with the silver cap and liner removed) while I pulled the dishwasher hose off the top of the counter, heated the water to a very high temperature, and blew it through the duct at full speed. . . OUT threw a huge ball of "cat fur" (ack) into the trash can. Rubber put it on and threw it in the trash can. Problem solved. Another solution is to swap out the black hose under the counter, but ONE end was so far under the back of the sink that I gave up. i am 83
