I use this on my Blackmagic Pocket 6k rig. Strangely, the underside of the camera has a vent at the bottom. So when you set up a tripod, close the fan and the camera starts to heat up. It was the perfect solution. I can mount it all the way to the camera and then attach it to the tripod base and it mounts without blocking the fan! It is not necessary to have all the shoulder gear.
