Review on Walkie-talkie Baofeng UV-82 (2 power modes) by Ada Zieleniewska ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I thought it would be better, but overall not bad.

The station is good value for money. The battery holds a charge for quite a long time in standby mode, But: it makes noise (sql in fact works like on / off), the speaker chokes at a volume close to the maximum, the standard antenna catches everything, the quality of materials according to the price is dull, the buttons wear out, the direct conversion receiver is the cheapest hence the quality of speech and reception. From the most positive: it is not a pity to lose. VHF (aka 136-174, aka "two") does not work except through base stations. Transmission power of 4/5 watts (UHF/VHF) is achievable with a fully charged battery, then dwindles in accordance with the charge of the battery. IMHO, it's better to save money and buy something more interesting, if for more serious activities than just chatting. For the professional segment, the bf9700 is better (from very cheap ones). For tourism: depending on what you are looking for. The price matches the quality.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Build quality, element base.
