The ultimate test of a cordless vacuum cleaner is 1) suction power, 2) battery life, 3) charging time and 4) ease of maintenance. 1) The suction power may be slightly lower than the Dyson V6. But in use, the vacuum cleaner has more than enough suction power for household use. 2) One charge is enough for about 20-30 minutes in off and on state. The specified duration is 15 minutes at 100 times the duty cycle. But I've never had a vacuum on all the time and I don't think most people will use it that way. I mainly use it to pick up dirt and lint from hardwood floors and carpets. I have a full power central vacuum that I use when I have to clean the whole house. Therefore, it is mainly used for spot cleaning in between for the main combating of dirt types. 3) The included 2.0Ah battery is typically fully charged in about 20 minutes. This is much faster than with most cordless vacuum cleaners. This is a definite plus from Makita 4) Ease of maintenance. The battery can be purchased separately. I bought two 4.0 Ah batteries for Makita. The supplied charger can charge a 4 Ah battery. The battery can be used in any Makita 18V power tool. So if you have Makita power tool(s) you can use these batteries with this vacuum cleaner. With some other vacuum cleaners, when the battery life drops, you have no choice but to buy a new one (e.g. Dyson). This external battery is exactly what you need. As long as I love this vacuum cleaner, it's always ready for a spotless fingertip clean. A vacuum cleaner is a lightweight and useful tool. Compared to other vacuums I've had from Crafsman, Black & Decker and others, this is definitely the best in its class.
