Roll, roll, roll, roll in the hay. You add some hay and close the latch and then put it back in the cage. The creatures chew and pull on the hay, causing it to twist or pinch. Overall it does a decent job of moving the hay around so the bits don't stick out one way or the other. Animals find food more easily because they don't have hands to help them. but it also makes it so that any small pieces that might fall through the slots will fall into the slots after being flung and shaken. but this area also has a haystack that needs to be cleared every time it's refilled. I'd suggest just putting it on the tray, but this thing sticks out of the cage quite a bit and will dominate the tray. Update: I had to deduct another star. When the rabbits eat it as usual, it twists and shakes a little. This over time the container completely detached from the wire body as it is held by a pin with some pressure on either side, then the hay bale rolls around the cage leaving the aforementioned small pieces everywhere; but basically it leaves two soft-coated wire prongs sticking out of the side of my rabbit's cage; not the best for scaling and binking. I removed it for security reasons until I found a better way to attach it.
