Meat mallet. You beat her meat. The handle feels comfortable, the hammer has a decent weight but is still light enough to be easy to handle and comfortable on the wrist. The finish is very nice and it looks a little better than grandma's meat tenderizer. Ideal for chicken when you want a nice flat surface for even browning. I like that you can throw it in the dishwasher. Will continue to be an OXO customer as long as they continue to make such good products. I can't think of a scenario where this would fail. It's a piece of metal.
