I am a building estimator and have used this product for many years. I use it almost every day so I don't think I have anything to complain about. Nothing is forever. I've resigned myself to having to buy a new one every year. I contacted the manufacturer a couple of times to explain an issue I was having with the tool. Point by sending me extra wheels but doesn't seem bothered to fix my issue with them because everything I've bought wears out the same way. And I've bought 10-15 of these over the years.
